- Ramen Noodle Injury Prevention: After noticing a high volume of pediatric burns from hot ramen spills—particularly from microwaved noodles—Denni Wilson-Lowber, Trauma Burn Coordinator at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health, launched this innovative outreach initiative.

Since its inception, the program has distributed more than 29,912 ramen packages labeled with safety messaging, contributing to a dramatic reduction in ramen-related burn injuries—from 38% to just 11% of pediatric burn cases. It’s a powerful example of how targeted education can lead to measurable, lasting impact.
